Welcome to my art blog.
This is where you'll find some of the things I'm trying to accomplish... a little of this and that. Paintings, photography, collage and sewing...every artful endeavor helps me keep my sanity in this mixed up world.

Prelude to Spring
I know it's technically still the middle of winter, but my local grocery store has rolled out the primroses, hyacinths and daffodils and the bare alder trees are getting that pinkish tinge before they sprout leaves....all really good signs of spring being around the corner. Can't wait.

Chilly spring
It's turning out to be a chilly spring with a lot of rain and wind....April showers and all that. Anxious for the May flowers. This is a new negative-shape acrylic on canvas.

Looking forward to spring
Spring really can't come soon enough. I know I shouldn't complain, but winter just is not my favorite season. These paintings can be purchased through my DailyPaintworks site with the link in the far right column.

Feeling a little like spring
I know it's too soon to consider it spring, but I so want it to be spring. Relying on last year's photos of market flowers, I'm exercising my watercolor muscles after way too many rainy and windy days.

I've had enough of winter
I always know when I've had enough of winter. I start dragging out my photos of dearly departed bouquets from spring and summers past. My version of pouring over seed catalogs, I guess. This is a watercolor I have just finished using 300-pound Arches watercolor paper. At $16.00 a pop, staring down at a sheet of this paper can be intimidating. What if I ruin it? So, I quickly cut the sheets up in 8 x 10-inch smaller sheets. Now I'll only ruin a $4 piece of paper. That isn't so scary. These originals are listed for sale on Etsy.com and soon on dailypaintworks.com (links in the right-hand margin.)

Spring Fever
After last week's arctic blast, I am so tired of cold and dark weather. I'm ready for Spring and am so happy to see signs of a little more daylight on both ends of the day. This little mixed media piece is my way of dreaming of spring. It has a gouache underpainting with pastel pencils and soft pastel on top painted on hot-press watercolor paper. Tulips always make me happy.
